It’s February 2008; the Iraq War has been droning on and on now since 2003, and the Democrats have a chance to take back the White House in the upcoming presidential election. So one can’t help but ask, “Where in the world is Cindy Sheehan?” Does anyone remember her? Does anyone remember her cause? The one-time darling of the Democrat Machine that has its crosshairs trained on the sinking ship known as the Republican Party has mysteriously dropped off the radar. Do you wonder why?

For those of you who need a little refresher, Cindy Sheehan is the mother of Casey Sheehan, a U.S. Army soldier who was killed in Iraq in April 2004. After his death, Mrs. Sheehan took up a crusade against the Iraq War in honor of her fallen son. At first, her intentions could be viewed as quite admirable. After all, she lost her son in a war that many believe was ill conceived from the beginning. I certainly cannot imagine the pain that she must be going through to this very day. As a father of two, I hope and pray each day that my children grow up to live long and happy lives, and that I never have to stand beside a grave crying for them. Certainly we can all sympathize with Mrs. Sheehan on that level.

As Cindy Sheehan’s crusade against the war progressed, she took on the characteristics of a rabid, left wing lunatic, making statements against President Bush that were flat out untrue. Again, I say this with all due respect to Mrs. Sheehan, considering her loss, but the loss of a loved one does not give you the right to wage war against an individual based solely on speculation and emotion. And make no mistake; I am not an apologist for George Bush. I’m quite certain he has more than a screw loose. But the more time she spent camped out in front of George Bush’s ranch in Texas, the more she let the puppeteers of the Far Left take her over, and more importantly, hijack her cause.

Soon the mouthpieces of the Democrat establishment were touting Cindy and her cause. They took up her fight, not because they believed the war was wrong, but because they saw it as a liability for Bush and the Republican Party. As is the case with most established Washington bureaucrats, the Dems were looking for ammunition to shoot down their opponent, and Cindy Sheehan had a full magazine. So they used her. They used her as often as they could, and held her out as a shining example of the failures of President Bush in his handling of the Iraq War.

As time and the war dragged on, the Democrats
